Welcome to our adventures. I try as best as I can to document the happenings here in our family - everything from the shenanigans to the spiritual, from the kid to the kitchen, from the cat to the catastrophes. We believe that adventure can be found in everything we do...even in the mundane tasks of the day. When we set our minds on things above in gratitude to God, we find the strength to approach life with a sense of purpose & adventure. The adventure may not always be what we have planned...but isn't that what adventure is all about?

Other Stuff We Do

Thursday, January 31, 2008
Throughout our house selling adventure, we have done well keeping our house very clean and tidy. However, every once in awhile we'll catch ourselves doing what I call, "takin' liberties". That is, leaving shoes out on the floor instead of putting them away in the closet...or, leaving the couch pillows not in the perfectly assigned order....or, leaving dishes in the sink. I've used the term occasionally in conversation so it's out there for the Abigail brain vortex to suck up. That said, we had Gma Jeri & Gpa Dave over for dinner last night. Whenever we have visitors to the house, no doubt an Abby-guided house tour will be on the docket. So Abby took our guests around the house eventually arriving in her room. As she entered, she picked up her nightgown which had been thrown on her perfectly made and pillowed bed, turned to her guests and said, "sorry about that, I took a liberty".

Today at church somebody was asking Abby if she knew how to use a computer. Her response was, "Well, I don't know wireless, but I do programs and email".

Another quote which came shortly after Abby turned five...when someone asked her how old she was, she replied, "I'm almost six".

Some highlights from Abby's 5th birthday...

When asked by her Dad how old she was, the Little Moon replied:
"I'm five, but I feel like I'm seven"

Here's a clip from a birthday celebration at "La Tapatia"
unfortunately, mom couldn't quite get the camera set to video quick enough
and she only got the tail end of it! But - almost the entire staff at The Tap
came over and sang along with the mariachi guitar player guy. Abby was
quite surprised and enjoyed the free flan.

"That's just a crack in the pants!" (in response to something really funny)

"I love my new 'mote' control car" (that would be "remote")

"Hold on, I need to chap my lips" (as she reaches for the chap stick)

sung to the traditional Christmas tune
"What Child is This?"

verse 1:
WHAT CHILD IS THIS
WHO WEARS THE SHIRT
THAT DONS THE NUMBER EIGH-TY.
HER MOM CAN'T BEAR TO GAZE UPON
THE SILVER AND BLACK
REPUG-NANCE.

chorus 1:
THIS, THIS IS A PROBLEM
SUBJECTING A CHILD TO SUCH AFFRIGHT.
WHO, WHO CAN HELP HER NOW
SURE-LY NOT JERRY RICE......

verse 2:
WHAT CHILD IS THIS
WHO SEEMS SO BLITHE,
HER FATHER HARDLY BREATHING...
MEMORIES OF HIS GREAT HERO
WHO NOW HAS DANCED WITH THE STARS.

chorus 2:
"COMMIT-MENT TO EX-CEL-ENCE"
IS HOW THE MOTTO SUPPOSEDLY GOES
HOW, HOW CAN THIS BE RIGHT
THE DAUGHTER OF A BOLT AND A NINER?

given as a gift to Abby from Raider Phil
Christmas 2003
much to the chagrin of
Charger Kristin and Niner Mike
